Pomeranian
Pomeranians are short and small toy dogs. In fact, they're one of the smallest dog breeds in the world. They have soft dense undercoats with an abundance of outer coat that is coarsely textured. They have heavily plumed tails that lie flat on their backs. They are medium boned and sturdy in appearance, despite their small size.
The Pomeranian should have a head that is in good balance to the rest of the body, with a short, straight muzzle. They have very alert expressions and often look very much like a small fox. Their ears are very small and erect and are mounted high on the head. They have a very large ruff around the neck that is an important part of their overall appearance. Their eyes are dark and almond shaped and very bright and alert in appearance. They have a black nose and teeth that meet in a scissors bite. Their necks are short and they carry their heads quite high.
Pomeranians are very vivacious and extroverted, which is one of the reasons that this breed tends to be a great show dog. They have a smooth gait and appear very well balanced. Once trained, they will be a standout in the show ring, because they truly enjoy the limelight and love to be watched.
You'll sometimes hear those selling puppies refer to "teacup Pomeranians". Those dogs described as "teacup" typically weigh less than three pounds. It's important to note that there is no official "teacup" variety of Pomeranian. A Pomeranian weighing three pounds or less is likely just the runt of the litter or has health problems. The AKC considers a weight of less than three pounds to be a fault.

Poodle
The Standard Poodle is a medium to large sized dog with a dense, curly coat, a long slender face and muzzle, and generally delicate stature. Poodles tend to weight much less than other breeds of similar size. Also known as the French Poodle the Standard Poodle is the largest of three recognized sizes for the poodle.
The Standard Poodle stands over 15 inches at the highest point of the shoulders, the Miniature stands between 15 to 10 inches, and the Toy stands under 10 inches at the shoulders. The Poodle's length should be about the same as its height and its back should be basically level with a stable squared off stance. Their tails are docked to about half their original lengths, leaving around 10 inches or so. The teeth should form a scissors bite. The coat should be very dense, curly, and grows continuously so it can be groomed in many different styles and shapes. They also don't have that strong "doggie" smell that many dogs have. They have webbed feet like other retrievers from their history as water retrieval dogs and Poodles excel in hunting competitions, agility, fly-ball, and obedience. Their wonderful personalities, capability, and unique non-shedding coat have made the Poodle extremely popular as a pet around the world.
Someone interested in choosing a Poodle as a pet has the widest array of choices of any breed; no other breed has as many different options of size and color. These dogs are great with children and other dogs. They can be somewhat reserved with new people but with a lot of socialization in puppy hood they can become very outgoing dogs, and will warm up to newcomers quickly.

Rhodesian Ridgeback
The official breed standard for the Rhodesian Ridgeback states the breed is strong, muscular, and actively athletic--also symmetrical and balanced in outline. Considered to be a very handsome and upstanding dog, the Rhodesian Ridgeback is capable of extreme endurance and speed. In addition to that, it is considered to be symmetrical in outline with the build of the dog longer than tall, but still well-balanced. The most outstanding feature of this breed is the ridge on its back, starting with two identical whorls (called crowns) directly behind the shoulders while tapering to a point between the hipbones. The ridge of hair that runs along its back runs in the opposite direction compared to the rest of its coat.
The head is an outstanding characteristic of the breed, free of wrinkles when resting. With a flat skull that is broad between the ears, the eyes are moderately well apart and round in shape with its color matching in harmony that of the breed's color. The ears are set high and are of medium size, while they sit on the head with a wide base and tapering to a rounded point. The muzzle is long, deep and powerful while the nose is black, brown, or liver colored--similar to the eyes, keeping with the color of the dog's fur--black noses are accompanied by dark eyes, amber eyes are accompanied by brown or live colored noses.
Instantly alert at all times, the breed is not a barker but instead is not only a hunter but also a family protector, an affectionate trustworthy companion for adults and young children both. A quiet and gentle dog, the Rhodesian Ridgeback can be quite busy and energetic as a puppy and young adult. Keeping them on a leash is mandatory if living in a city or crowded area, as they can be very protective and combative if not trained properly.
